Fish &Turtle stone
Fish and turtle in flowered stone (phonolite) from Ua Pou – Marquesas Archipelago. Flowered stone, only present in a few places around the world, is one of the treasures of the Marquesas Islands. These two pieces, the fish and the turtle, have very strong symbolism linked to the ocean, especially the turtle which was used by fishermen when they went sailing to help guide them back to the mainland.
